  四、地 点:清水河校区综合楼131会议室

  五、内容简介:

Our team focuses on translational research for patients with refractory epilepsy. Epilepsy surgery is crucial, relying on accurate preoperative localization of the epileptogenic zone (EZ). We use Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) to anatomically define the EZ and functional cortical areas for personalized surgical interventions. SEEG allows us to study memory, language, and motor activity in conscious subjects. We identify physiological markers that distinguish EZ neurons from those associated with early-stage epileptic network activation. Additionally, microelectrodes record individual neuron activity in the hippocampus and amygdala. By presenting stimuli like famous individuals or objects, we've discovered "concept cells" (CCs) that selectively respond to specific memories, supporting the concept of "sparse coding." We explore CC formation, persistence, and their contrast with novel information.Neuroimaging projects involve brain MRI techniques, including high-resolution structural quantification, diffusion imaging, fiber tractography, and functional connectivity analysis using fMRI. Longitudinal and cross-sectional studies employ AI for automated classification and regression analysis of MRI images in epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases. We also investigate cannabis, particularly cannabidiol, as an adjunctive therapy for refractory epilepsy. This treatment is effective, safe, well-tolerated, and improves patients' quality of life.Another research focus is healthy aging and memory impairments, including Alzheimer's disease. We employ Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) as a non-pharmacological intervention, benefiting cognition and quality of life in dementia patients. Additionally, we study genetic factors associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias to gain new insights.
