　　教师发展中心“学者论坛”活动特别邀请IEEE GRSS 执行副主席Saibun Tjuatja教授来校作学术交流，具体安排如下，欢迎广大师生参加。

　　六、内容简介：

　　The Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) is a community of researchers and practitioners collaborating and designing tools to understand our interaction with Earth’s ecosystems, to monitor its environments, oceans and ice caps, and to characterize potential risks. GRSS supports a network of collaborations at a global level. This report will discuss the geoscience and remote sensing technology for the benefit of humanity and our living earth.

　　七、嘉宾简介：

　　Saibun Tjuatja (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Medan, Indonesia. He received B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Arlington, TX, USA, in 1987, M.S. degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA, in 1988, and Ph.D. degree from UTA, in 1992, all in electrical engineering. He is currently an Associate Professor with UTA Department of Electrical Engineering. He was the Associate Chair of UTA Department of Electrical Engineering from 1999 to 2002 and is currently serving as the Undergraduate Program Advisor. His research interests include wave propagation and scattering in random media, remote sensing and radar imaging, subsurface sensing, and wireless structural health monitoring. Dr. Tjuatja served as a member of the Organizing Committee and Technical Program Committee for the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) 1992 in Houston, USA, and IGARSS 2016 in Beijing, China, and as a General Co-Chair of IGARSS 2017 in Fort Worth, TX, USA. He is currently the Executive Vice President of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), a member of the IEEE GRSS Conference Publications Committee, an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, and the Chair for Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium Conference Publications Committee. He has also been serving as a US National Science Foundation (NSF) proposal reviewer. Dr. Tjuatja is a member of Tau Beta Pi and a Fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy.
