六、内容简介：

Blood pressure (BP) is one of the most important factors of cardiovascular risk. There is increasing interest in obtaining improved methods of BP measurement involving cuffless techniques, as it is promising to improve individual awareness of the presence of hypertension. These could be integrated with wearable devices to obtain BP data during daily living to increase awareness of hypertension as well as obtaining continuous BP information to assess BP variability as a potentially improved metric of assessing BP as a cardiovascular risk factor. However, there are many challenges still to overcome, mainly due to the reliability of cuffless devices to track physiological BP changes.  Cuffless devices generally do not measure parameters directly related to force, but rather capture the arterial pulse through photoplethysmography (PPG) to obtain a waveform that can be used for calculation of transit time or analyzed using specific waveform features. Notwithstanding the large amount of scientific and industrial effort that has been generated in developing and manufacturing cuffless BP devices, there is yet no device that is accepted by the clinical community to replace the brachial cuff sphygmomanometer for diagnosis and treatment of hypertension. This presentation will present data to obtain insight into the problems and challenges facing wearable cuffless BP devices.

七、主讲人简介：

Professor Alberto Avolio is currently Professor Emeritus at Macquarie Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney. He has acquired international recognition in the field of cardiovascular haemodynamics. His research experience has been in the fields of pulsatile relationships between blood pressure and flow, pulse wave analysis, vascular structure and function and cardiovascular modelling. He is on the editorial board of several international journals of cardiovascular research and hypertension. He is active in the emerging areas of cuffless measurement of blood pressure and is on committees for formation of international standards for validation of cuffless blood pressure devices. He has over 300 publications including a book, 17 book chapters and peer reviewed articles. Professor Avolio has been Past President of the Pulse of Asia Society and has held positions of Visiting Professor at international academic institutions; he currently Visiting Professor at Northeastern University, Shenyang, and Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China. He is an IEEE Fellow, and Fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering. He has received professional Lifetime Achievement recognition from Pulse of Asia and Society for Artery Research.
