六、内容简介：

In the literature on the subject of material failure criteria, the von Mises criterion has been the most rational one.  However, it applies only to isotropic ductile materials of equal tensile and compressive strengths.  A step beyond ideal isotropy and ductility, there has not been any criterion of similar degree of rationality.  The lack of rationality in these criteria will be revealed systematically in the presentation.  Rectifications have been a major focus of the presenter over the past decades with a great intensity of efforts and achieved only very recently.  Rationalised material failure criteria applicable to brittle materials as well as to ductile materials, and to anisotropic composites as well as to isotropic materials will be presented and justified based on fundamental considerations underlying the study of this particular subject.  Another progress of far-reaching significance is a complete resolution of the dispute whether a material failure criterion should be formulated in terms of stresses or strains, on which a deep division with strong views from both sides has been present over the past century, especially in the aerospace industry.  The central message to be conveyed through the presentation will be that, when rationality prevails over perceptions and prejudice, physical and mathematical consistency follows.

七、主讲人简介：

李曙光，英国诺丁汉大学航空航天复合材料教授，南京航空航天大学、浙江大学和西北工业大学客座教授，中材科技股份有限公司和中国航空工业集团专家顾问。长期从事复合材料损伤与失效、微观力学、结构稳定性等领域的学术与工程应用研究，发表高水平学术论文100余篇，并著有《现代复合材料多尺度数值表征方法》等专著。曾任第二届、第三届世界复合材料失效理论评比（World Wide Failure Exercise）顾问与组织者，《International Journal of Mechanical Sciences》等期刊编委，2006-2009年间任《International Journal of Aerospace Engineering》副主编。
