The International Academic Seminar on Boarding Education and Plateau Development has been held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu. Experts and scholars from various countries discussed improving education access and equity in plateau regions, and promoting global dialogue on China's educational experience. Our reporter Gong Ming has the story.
Scholars held in-depth discussions on boarding education in regions with unique geographic and cultural conditions. Experts who have long studied education in Xizang say that unlike elite boarding schools in the West, China's state-run system mainly serves ordinary families. With government subsidies, it ensures children from remote areas have access to quality education while improving teaching standards and fostering cultural integration in multi-ethnic regions.

The seminar coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Xizang Autonomous Region. Participants discussed the role and impact of boarding education in highland areas. A scholar who grew up in Xizang said the system has played a vital role in nurturing talent and driving the region's development.
